Elisabetta Brusa - Merlin, for orchestra, Op.20
Giovanni Bottesini - Gran Duo Concertante
Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov - Scheherazade
Join us for an afternoon of great stories.
Italian virtuoso Giovanni Bottesini was the finest double bass soloist of the 19th-century. Known as the “Paganini of the Double Bass”, he wrote his Gran Duo Concertante in 1844. We're lucky to feature Emmanuel Feldman, Cello and Pascal Delache-Feldman, Double Bass in this great piece.
Elisabetta Brusa's symphonic poem, Merlin, for orchestra, Op.20, describes one of history's best loved legendary figures.
We end the program with one of the most evocative classical stories, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade. Rimsky-Korsakov's dazzling, colorful orchestration and melodies are based on the tales of One Thousand and One Nights.
The concert will be at MassBay Community College in Wellesley with a reception after the concert.
MassBay is minutes from Rt 95, easy to get to with free parking. And why not check out the great dining and shopping in nearby Wellesley Square.
Tickets are pay-what-you-can. We hope to see you there!
